FAQs

The Affiliate Publisher Opportunity

Q: What is an Affiliate Publisher?

A. An Affiliate Publisher is an independent sales representative that sells advertising to be displayed in products and services Uniguest sells to the hotel industry.

Q. Who would I be selling advertising to?

A. Our Affiliate Publishers sell advertising to local businesses that are close or near to a hotel that contracts Uniguest to provide one of our products.

Q: What makes Uniguest better than other commission sales opportunities?

A: Here are just a few reasons: We've been in business for over 20 years. This is not a new idea. We have Affiliate Publishers that have been working with us for over 20 years. It is a proven opportunity. We have an impeccable reputation for quality publications and customer service with our hotel clients, advertising clients, and Affiliate Publishers. We have a great sales program that offers you all the challenge, fun, flexibility, and financial rewards you're looking for. Our business is in a growth industry, and we are growing along with it. {Read more about us}

Q. What's a typical background for a successful Affiliate Publisher?

A. We work with Affiliate Publishers from all sorts of backgrounds, but some sales experience is highly recommended. You should also have a willingness to meet new people and create new strategic relationships.

Q. Do I have to work full time?

A: No, you can work as often as you like. You determine your schedule and hours. However, each contracted job must be started and finished within a specific time frame due to the nature of the product or service being provided to the hotel.

Q: Does the job involve travel? If so, how far?

A. We have some Affiliate Publishers that travel and we have some that stay in their local area. We encourage you to develop your own local territory where you live, and the surrounding area. But many of our Affiliate Publishers like to travel and some travel 200-300 miles or more from their home. It really depends on where you want to work. Many view the Affiliate Publisher opportunity as a way to travel the country and earn income at the same time.

Q: Do you have opportunities in my geographic area?

A: Although we have many Affiliate Publishers actively selling at all times, we are very likely to have an opportunity that is convenient to your place of residence and/or where you'd like to travel. Contact us to learn more about out active service areas.

The Products and Customers

Q: For what type of products will I be selling advertising?

A: You will have the opportunity to sell advertising for many unique products: Digital Signage, Touchscreen Kiosks, quickscoop guides, Hotel & Resort Guest Directories, Restaurant Menus, Wedding Planner Guides, Visitor Guides, Apartment Guides, Keycards, TV Channel Guide Stands, and other quality publications for the Hospitality industry. We are continuing to develop new products that you'll be able to sell to your existing client base to increase your income and solidify your client relationships into the future.

Q: Who will my customers be?

A: You will primarily be selling advertising to a wide variety of local businesses to help promote their product and services in the hotel, resort, restaurant, apartment and condo complex publications assigned to you for each contracted job. However, you will also serve as a representative for Uniguest to the hotel or resort that has contracted Uniguest for the product.

Q. Do I need to prospect for my own advertising clients in a market?

A. Yes, and we have a wealth of knowledge in how to train you on how to approach potential advertisers for each product in various types of markets. You'll get that information and access to our online sales tools once you become an Affiliate Publisher.

Q. Do I need to find/develop my own publishing clients?

A. That is the great reason to become an Affiliate Publisher. Uniguest has already done the legwork. We have relationships with thousands of hotels throughout the country and we are signing up new ones everyday. As an Affiliate Publisher, you simply choose which hotel and which area you want to work. To help in that process, we have an in-house scheduler to help you find available hotels and we also have an online tool. However, we have additional opportunities for Affiliate Publishers that would like to find and help Uniguest contract hotels. We reward that effort with higher commission rates. There are many reasons our Affiliate Publishers like to find their own hotels to contract:

  • You'll make more money of every project that find and sell While most effective Affiliate Publishers have excellent repeat sales rates year-to-year, those rates are even higher for those who develop their own publishing clients.
  • You'll make more money because you'll develop more personal relationships in your territory. Those contacts more often sign up for multiple products (e.g. a hotel guest directory and a wedding planner) and provide you with additional leads (especially when these people move from one property to another).
  • You'll get to build your own business more effectively because you won't depend on the corporate office to give you leads when you need them.
  • There are always new hotels, apartment complexes, and other properties being developed that need our products. Plus, there are other existing hospitality businesses that really want something new and different. And we keep coming out with new products that our Affiliate Publishers can sell to their existing customers.

But again, you don't have to ever develop your own prospects if you don't want to. It's completely your choice.

Q. So who actually produces and handles the products for the client?

A. That's our job. You contact the sponsor advertisers, sell them ads, and collect (and some of those collections may come in later to the corporate office). We design ads for your advertising sponsors, produce the quality publications (and that all happens in-house), ship them to the client, and take care of all billings and statements. You do the contacting, selling and collecting of advertising and leave the rest to us!.

The Money

Q. What is the average income that a successful Affiliate Publisher can make?

A: $45-50,000 per year for those who sell on a reasonable, full time basis from 32 to 52 weeks a year. Some Affiliate Publishers make much more‚ as much as $100,000 a year. We can make no guarantees what you, individually will make.

Q. What is my commission rate?

A: 35 -40% depending on the product and so long as you reach the pre-determined threshold for the amount of sales that we need to produce the publication and pay you the commission. You are paid on everything that is sold so long as the money is collected, whether it is at the initial point of sale or later and paid to the home office.

Q. How long does it take for me to start earning commissions?

A. We have many Affiliate Publishers that are earning commissions within 2-3 weeks of becoming an Affiliate Publisher. It all depends on how quickly you want to get started.

Q. When I do get paid?

A: You are paid by Direct Deposit or Comchek Card within 48 hours from the time that we receive the completed project in house ( or we'll send a check to your home). Note that as a contracted employee state, local, and federal taxes are your own personal responsibility if you become an Affiliate Publisher.

Q: What traveling expenses do I need to cover myself?

A: With the exception of lodging that is already taken care of per our agreement with a client hotel, you are responsible for your own travel expenses.

Q. What does it cost to become an Affiliate Publisher with Uniguest?

A: The initial start-up kit of materials is only $75 (but we'll take that out of your first two commission checks, so there's no money out-of-pocket, initially). There is a recurring $15 per month fee for supplies, and voice mail.

A. No, but some of our most successful Affiliate Publishers have significantly increased their efficiency by being able to quickly research a market online, even before they show up. It's a great way to cut a couple days of work off of every engagement you have. And, some of our Affiliate Publishers use their laptops to sell more effectively by going online and showing other products/information available on the Uniguest site. We also have Affiliate Publishers who don't use a PC at all. It's your choice, but we highly advise that you have general computer skills. And you'll find excellent sales tools online including lists of available prospects, status of your clients' orders, etc.
